Labyrinth – Cancelled

May 2 @ 9:00 am12:00 pm

Unfortunately we had to cancel our Labyrinth offering. There are many public labyrinths available in the Des Moines Metro and around the world! You can locate them at the World-Wide Labyrinth Locator.

Every year on the first Saturday in May thousands of people around the globe participate in World Labyrinth Day as a moving meditation for world peace and celebration of the labyrinth experience. Many “Walk as One at 1” local time to create a rolling wave of peaceful energy passing from one time zone to the next.

What is a labyrinth? It is often mistaken for a maze, however there is only one path in and one path out. It is often used for contemplative prayer or meditation.

  • Releasing (Purgation): Letting go on the way in.
  • Receiving (Illumination): Stopping at the center to receive through meditation or pray.
  • Returning (Union): Returning the world with new insight.

Even if we are unable to be together on May 2nd, we trust that our prayers are joined with all the others in world peace through this contemplative practice.
